The AYO II - the new original
The new compact AYO II offer you a small, lightweight and convenient mount incorporating 15 years of advanced
development to exceed all your expectations. The right sized mount for the perfect "grab-and-go" setup, often
copied but never paralleled.
the AYO II mount
|
The AYO II combines 15 years of experience in manufacturing Alt/Az mounts to get the best feeling in movement and
vibration damping. The mount has no mechanical drives that transmit undesirable vibrations. It provides the perfect
manual feel like that of the very best big Dobsonians. Supporting a scope over three times its weight, it's perfect for
traveling to your favorite dark sites. The handling of the mount is so easy and simple that you will ask yourself why
all astronomical mounts don't work this well.
If you like to do just a little "star hopping" to enjoy some DeepSky objects or if you love to observe the moon, the
planets or the sun - the AYO II is the ideal mount. Matchless quick and easy set-up and dissembly, matchlessly simple
to use. Deliverable in three colors: brass, red or black.
|
Many features of the mount help you to get the best of your scope. Do you like "Push To" Guidance? The optional built-in
encoder unit interfaces with all popular sky computers such as the state-of-the art Argo Navis.
Increasingly popular are tablet or phone-based sky map applications. A WiFi unit can connect the encoder-equipped to your
favorite Planetarium App for graphic Push-To guidance.
An additional benefit of the encoder unit is that is raises the mount's altitude axis, increasing the clearance to the
tripod = more freedom of movement for larger scopes.
The encoder unit will have a read-out cable with an RJ45 connector with 8 pin's and work with all common controllers.
The encoder unit can also be installed after purchase; you can add it whenever you want.

The AYO II with and without the encoder unit
|
The encoder unit is placed between azimuth axis and altitude axis and includes two encoders with each 5000 pic's per
revolution. In practice it's enough to find any object, but not too much for the read-out speed of the controller. So you
can swing around your scope faster without losing the read-out position.
Because the encoders are completely inside, they are well protected against damage during transport and use.
|
The AYO II is stouter than the first version (in the USA marketed as the inferior William Optics' copy called
"EZtouch"). The added heft was required to house the encoders, but as a byproduct allowed the use of larger
and stronger friction bearings. You get better performance even with higher load capacity, while losing
nothing in transportability.
Take advantage of the highest performance combined with the easiest use.
The mount is available in the colours red/black, grey/black and black.

The mount uses virtually stiction-free bearings in both axes so you can use your refractor the same way you use a big
premium dobsonian scope. You can adjusted the friction in both axes completely to your taste. This works well enoughl that
you can change your eyepieces and follow the stars with the same friction adjustment. This helps to use also highest
magnifications for planets or double-stars as well as lowest magnifications for overview of our galaxy and wide bright
nebula.
|
The mount is connects easily to existing tripods as well as telescopes: You can use the mount on
Vixen GP® or SkyWatcher EQ5 / HEQ5® or
Vixen SX® tripods tripods as well as on standard photographic tripods with 3/8" thread.
The integrated saddle with integrated protecting clamp supports a standard dovetail bar (Vixen®
size with 45 mm width) the other side is completely flexible, supporting Takahashi® system using two M8 screws or a
Losmandy dovetail saddle. A second Vixen saddle can also be added.
|
|
A removable flange will fit the socket to Vixen GP® / SkyWatcher EQ5 / HEQ5® or
Vixen SX® tripods. When removed, the mount can connect to all standard photo-tripod's
as well.
